Joseph Price

Hi, my name is Joseph Price. My Top Five Favorite Things List currently includes Firefox, Veronica Mars, stainless steel (it’s just so easy to clean), and The Long Tail. This site is about storytelling coming out of The Long Tail. If that last sentence makes no sense, you need to go here.

Besides culturespace.org, I haunt a couple of other online spaces. I founded Truffle Pigs with my friend Kristopher Mecholsky in April 2006. We’re supposed to be making creative content that other blogs can link, but we’re off to a slow start. I’m also webmaster for a couple of sites including actress Suzanne Edgar and theater company Banished? Productions.

I maintain a personal site at jmprice.net. You can also stalk me Web 2.0 style at claimID, Consumating, last.fm, MySpace, and Upcoming.org. Like everybody else, I have a bunch of photos on Flickr.

Offline, I inhabit a kind of messy efficiency in SW Washington, DC. In this city I’ve done stints in public relations and bartending. I’m trying to figure out what to do with my life when my kind of messy efficiency’s lease is up. Currently I’m gravitating toward moving to India for a year to be a Bollywood extra, but I wouldn’t turn down a job that had a great salary and benefits and plenty of time to blog during work hours. [Prospective-employers-who’ve-discovered-this site-by-Googling-my-name: yeah, that was a joke.]

When I’m not spending long hours in front of my home desktop, I like to sit inside of coffee shops with my laptop. When I’m not doing that, I volunteer, write plays, and drink in moderate amounts at bars in the company of good friends. I used to bike around the city but I took a nasty spill in September 2005 and still haven’t gotten the bike fixed. I’m a pretty good swing dancer.

Lastly, I miss new wave and movies about losing. My personal quote is “Can’t get shot in the back if you don’t run,” credit Matthew Good.

Miscellanea:
- Over 600 people have seen me naked. It is a dubious distinction.
- My favorite media are plays, but they’re not a part of The Long Tail because of their cost and presentation structure.
- In December 2002 I won first place in Lindy Hop at the National Collegiate Dancesport Championships with Michelle Weisse.
- I founded Catholic University’s creative arts magazine CRUX.
